Westbow Gives Back
an educational foundation that has been having impact globally through education for 50 years.
Improve high-school completion rates around the world through access to quality digital courses, aligned to each country’s graduation requirements. Tax-deductible donations to Spero Learning create learning opportunities for children that wouldn’t otherwise exist.

“there are over 60 countries with a high school graduation rate of less than 50%.”
According to research compiled from UNESCO and the World Bank, there are over 60 countries with a high school graduation rate of less than 50%.
Without graduating high school, the doors close on so many opportunities:
Low rates of high-school graduation perpetuate cycles of poverty.

Do you remember your high school algebra teacher? That time she helped you finally apply the quadratic equation correctly! Maybe you had a history teacher who was particularly inspiring, a chemistry teacher who amazed you in the science lab, or an English teacher who helped you learn how to structure a clear argument.
Unfortunately, too many students will never have this experience, because they don’t have access to subject-matter experts in math, history, chemistry, or language arts. There simply aren’t enough expert teachers in their country.
In North America, this problem is largely solved, thanks to quality virtual schools and hybrid schools. If a teacher isn’t available, there is high-quality instruction in government approved courses where students actually learn.
We know, because the team behind Spero Learning has been supporting K12 digital-first education in the United States and Canada for over 20 years, in some of the largest and most successful schools. We have seen firsthand students not only succeeding without a teacher in the room, but performing even better than students in traditional classrooms!

Unfortunately getting every student in every country access to a subject-matter expert in every high school course required for graduation just isn’t realistic. At best, it will take a generation to train the teachers. There are students today, who can’t afford to wait decades.
Digital education acts as a leap-frog tool that allows students to learn and graduate… today. Not a generation from now.
Existing teachers and other caring adults can become effective learning coaches, keeping students accountable for their learning, and following along with them.
We have an existing library of proven content from Canada and the US available today for remixing. This means no country needs to start from scratch, but can build on the content from previously developed countries.
Guatemala can build up on the work done in El Salvador. Uganda can build upon the work done in Kenya.
As each new country establishes their quality high-school curriculum, developing for the next country becomes cheaper and faster.

Building high quality content today is easier and faster than ever before.
Learning experiences can be more interactive, and higher quality.
Spero is expertly deploying AI workflows to help content developers around the world build better content faster than we ever dreamed possible.
Our team has decades of experience in delivering digital learning solutions. We know how to get content built, that actually works, and get it into the hands of educators.
Spero Learning represents the joint vision of 3 organizations: A strong alliance of aligned organizations working to have impact through digital education:
